So our trip through southern Nevada had it all.
The good...
Ginger and I got to spend a couple of days with my parents and my friend John and his girlfriend Jess. We had a great time catching up with everybody. Good people, good food and good times.
The bad...
Ginger was sick the entire time we were in both places. She was a trooper and she did not miss a thing, but she sure did not get as much out of the experience as I did. The good news is that she recovered fast and was feeling better soon.
The ugly...
As we were pulling into Vegas three different check engine/warning lights came on. Since the point of a road trip is the driving we knew we had to take care of the car right away and so with a little search we found a Toyota dealership not far from where we were staying. They could not get us in that night so we had to wait until 7 am the next day. I guess if you have to be stranded for the night Vegas is one of the better places to be.
We had In and Out burger for dinner, played some table games and then to cap the night off we watched the movie "Casino". It seemed to be fitting given where were were.
The next morning we got up at 6 a.m. made our way to the dealership, sat in the waiting room for almost two hours to have them tell us that they had no idea what was wrong with the car. The theories they had were either a bad solenoid, the transmission was going out or the most technical one, and my personal favorite, the light just came on. They told us to just keep driving the car and if the light came back on take it in and have it looked at again, $125 well spent. With a renewed sense of confidence we headed for Death Valley National Park, I mean who wouldn't feel good about taking their car to the hottest, most barren stretch of land in the US after that news.
Location:Mesquite and Las Vegas NV.
Was what Ginger had just the flu? Or was it food poisoning? Not good news about the car.
