Yosemite has a lot of two things: poster worthy sights and crowds. With around 4.1 million people visiting the park every year, and most of those people visiting the tiny area known as the Yosemite Valley, the sights get a bit crowded. Even on Monday and Tuesday the park is crawling with people. The Yosemite Valley feels more like a high end ski resort than it does a national park. There are two villages with swimming pools and spas, a bus system, a lodge with expensive restaurants and stores that have everything you can't live without. There are even park rangers who just deal with park traffic. Camp sites are nearly impossible to get in the summer with most camp grounds getting booked out 6 months in advance.
Now the question you are all asking is why would people put themselves through all of that? Well for one Ginger and I like a good challenge and two, the sights around Yosemite make all of it worth it.
By sheer dumb luck we got a camping spot two nights in a row, both a result of people not showing up for their reservations. The camp site feels more like spring break in Mexico, but it was a place to sleep between hikes. We hiked all over the valley and saw every sight that made Ansel Adams famous.

Yosemite looks beautiful. I just returned from a family cruise reunion. It was a blast to just connect with everyone and enjoy the ocean.
